the Apartheid Wall!
Facts and Accounts of Life Behind the Wall
WEDNESDAY, April 14th
7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Royce 362
UCLA
Speakers:
Garrick Ruiz, a volunteer with the International Solidarity
Movement,
will relate his experiences of his recent
trip to the West Bank with a slide show presentation.
Professor Mahmoud Ibrahim will present how the construction
of the wall
affects the lives of the Palestinian
people.
A little background:
Israel's construction of the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank
is a violation of human rights and international
law. The wall is being built to encompass large illegal Jewish
settlements located deep inside the West Bank;
thus de facto making them part of the State of Israel. Violations
of
international law include collective
punishment of the civilian population, the seizing of private
property by
an occupying power and the
demolition of houses and property. For example, farmers and
families in
over 65 villages in the northern West
Bank are deprived of their land which is isolated by the Wall
and/or has
been razed for the path of the wall.
