Results of Annual Al-Awda San Diego Chapter Board Elections

Al-Awda San Diego is pleased to report the successful conclusion of its annual chapter board elections which took place on November 13, 2011 at Al-Awda's Palestine National Center. The meeting began with a review of the chapter's work over the last year. The chapter's treasurer then submitted a financial report of the chapter's activities for the year. A copy of the independent CPA-reviewed financial statement which covers the activities of the entire national Al-Awda organization for 2010 was then circulated and discussed. The meeting then assessed some of the priorities for the following year. The meeting resolved to advance and work, over the next year, on the Palestinian children's rights campaign, divestment, the refugee support program, upcoming rallies and events including the Tenth Annual International Al-Awda Convention.

The nomination and election process then took place.

The following are the results :

Two chapter coordinators and representatives to the National Coordinating Committee of Al-Awda, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition were elected. They are: Aida Kildani and Lorain Rihan

Janan Alaqqad was elected chapter treasurer

Additionally, the following board members were elected:

Ramzi El-Khater (Outreach), Rami Ilaian (CSUSM Rep, Refugee Support), Zahi Damuni (Child Rights Campaign), and Francisco Emil Garcia (Palestine Library).

Al-Awda San Diego thanks last year's chapter board for their dedication and hard work which led to significant growth in our chapter's membership and participation over the past year. We wish the new board success in its work and in meeting the continuing challenges ahead.
